Shares in Nokia , the No 2 cellphone maker, rose more than 6 percent
early on Monday after its bigger rival Samsung Electronics lost its
court case against Apple .
A US jury found the South Korean company had copied critical features
of the hugely popular iPhone and iPad and awarded the US company $1.05
billion in damages.
“In addition to Apple, we name Microsoft and Nokia as the main
beneficiaries from this outcome,” Nordea analyst Sami Sarkamies said in a
research note.
Nokia and its software partner Microsoft have been struggling to win
ground from Samsung’s Android-powered smartphones which lead the market.
